Originally postponed from July, the 2008 Ayr Field Day went ahead on Sunday 17 August.
"Over 20 community groups had stalls on the field from West Cornwall Badger Rescue to the Carbis Bay WI". "Over 40 volunteers helped put Ayr Field Day together, from delivering programmes door to door in the rain to putting up marquees. On behalf of the 1000 people who attended Ayr Field Day 2008 over the course of the day I would like to thank everyone who helped out". Rachael Gaunt - Chairperson of Ayr Field Community Group
The townspeople of St Ives, Cornwall, came out in force to support Ayr Field Day 2008. Estimates suggest that over 1000 people visited the field during the course of the day. Despite forecasts of rain and gales Ayr Field managed to stay dry. Bash Street Theatre performed their new show 'The Station' to conclude the day - captivating young and old alike. As the field cleared at 5.00pm the rain and gales set in. A huge thanks goes out to all who made Ayr Field Day a great success in its third year!
As many of you may well know Ayr Field Day was originally scheduled to take place on Sunday 6th July. With heavy hearts the decision was made to postpone the event during the rain storms and high winds of Saturday evening.
