
Unpredictable Cornish weather couldn’t stop the boundless enthusiasm of the St Ives community at Ayr Field Day last Saturday, 4 July.
Young and old and all ages in between came out to enjoy a fun filled day at Ayr field in St ives. Over 20 community stalls attended to showcase the incredible work they have been doing throughout the year and to meet new people who may be interested in their causes. Great food was available from the St Ives Lions Club, St Ives Scouts, Goodies Café and the Cornish Ice Cream Company. Homemade cakes from Yellow Canary Café and the St Ives School Cooking Club went down a treat!
Green fingers were able to purchase a variety of plants donated from the community. Fun games for all ages were provided by the Island Youth Centre, an arts workshop from the Tate Gallery, Children’s Centre toddler area, face painting, fete games and a traditional carousel.
The local emergency services were all present on the day to show their support for the community including the local police, fire brigade and St John’s Ambulance.
Under the two large marquees was some of the best entertainment around. In the bands tent, six local young bands performed like professionals and entertained their adoring fans. The main tent showcased the St Ives Town Band, KRUners Choir, Tros an Treys Cornish Dancers and Mister Coolmagic.
Zodiac, a comedy acrobatics team by Trifle Gathering Productions brought the day to a close with hilarious performances of thrilling displays of athleticism that the the Ayr Field crowds cheering!
